We Have Revived RocketDock.com

After almost two weeks of dealing with server problems and a complete site tear down we are happy to announce that RocketDock.com is back from the ashes.

The new site has been redone from scratch by PolyVector. Unfortunately because of the server issues we lost about a month's worth of download submissions and users accounts. For the remaining accounts login information has been imported and working. Users should be able to edit their past submissions with ease.

Some new features on RocketDock.com include user RSS feeds for their own submissions. Profiles now have avatar support. And last, files can be reported if broken or submitted without permission.

RocketDock.com Has Suffered an Aneurysm

Ok RocketDock.com has not literally suffered an aneurysm, but it is almost as bad. Turns out this morning our hosting company blocked RocketDock.com's IP from the rest of the world due to spam. What does this mean? We're not exactly sure yet. We do know RocketDock.com is completely offline and we are working furiously to get everything up and running. Trouble is it isn't going to happen overnight. Fear not you can still download RocketDock.

For the time being point your browsers over to our files server to download the latest version of RocketDock. We are hoping to get RocketDock.com up and running within the week so you can enjoy all the awesome icons, themes, and docklets our talented users have submitted.

We'll have an announcement up here on Punk Labs as soon as everything has returned to normal.

Tracker Down

Due to our limited time for development and support we have taken down the bug tracker. If you have ay questions regarding the usage of RocketDock you should be reading through the online help, which is also available in your start menu when RocketDock is installed. We do not have an ETA on when the bug tracker or regular support will resume for our projects. We do appreciate your patience during this time.

As a small note, we will not be providing additional support via email or our blog. Thanks for your understanding.

Migrating RocketDock.com to a New Server

This morning we migrated RocketDock.com to its own shinny new dedicated server. This was a move long over due. Over the next few days some users might experience user registration and upload submissions being disabled. This is because the DNS needs to be updated. So please be patient as everything gets directed to the new server. We shouldn't have lost any user accounts or file submissions in the process. Hopefully this move will create a faster more reliable user connection to all our sites.

Underground Progress

The past six months have been full of changes for us here at Punk Labs. PolyVector and I have undergone a personal tragedy and our place of operation has moved from Arizona back to Southern California. In the midst of all the chaos we have been getting little bits of development done on our next project. While it might not be the RocketDock update everyone has been waiting for, it will bring us one step closer to getting one out. With the PHP framework almost complete for our upcoming move to web development we are almost ready to test an experimental version of our new bug tracker. While I cannot give out details right now this will take the place of our current tracker and help us provide support for our users. The new system will have better file attachments so users can get RocketDock debug files to us as well as localization files. Without these crucial features the next wave of RocketDock testing will be an extremely painful process for both us and those who will try to communicate issues in test builds. We appreciate how patient our users have been and please continue to post bugs in the current tracker.

This is that wonderful time of year when everyone is busy celebrating with family and friends the various holidays winter brings. So from PolyVector and myself here at Punk Labs we wish everyone a very joyous season. We will be out of town for the next week visiting family and friends.
Upgraded to MODx 0.9.6.1

We are very much still alive around here. If you have just recently been on the site then you might have noticed a bit of down time. Punk Labs was just upgraded to MODx 0.9.6.1, which was a bug fix release. Everything should be back up and running as normal.

Here's a small update on development, we are currently in the middle of creating a PHP framework that will be the backbone of our up coming web projects. Unfortunately we don't have any ETA on when the next project will be available and the details are still hush hush. And for all you RocketDock fans, development is not dead! Keep in mind the last release was in September and we are taking a much needed break to branch out into other projects. Bug reports and feature requests are still being accepted in the Tracker.

New Name, Same Great Taste

Never fear, you have not arrived at this site in error. While "Punk Software" no longer exists you might find comfort in knowing that it has just gone through a name change. Punk Labs is the start of a new direction. We decided to re-brand so that our name doesn't exclude non-software projects. PolyVector and I want to break into web projects along side our available Windows software. The name isn't the only change, I'll take you through a quick run down.

You might have noticed we are no longer offering support. This was a tough decision. While the forums were a great reference for all things RocketDock no one (or at least very little of our users) used them to their advantage. Punk Labs (formerly Punk Software) is run only by PolyVector and myself, and we have to split our time between support and development. While we understand how important support is for projects we feel our time is better spent fixing bugs and adding new features to RocketDock. The forums were supposed to create a community our users could participate in to help one another, but it didn't turn out that way.

Our goal is to maximize our development time in order to bust out projects our users will enjoy. We hope everyone loves the new site.

RocketDock 1.3.5 Released

Just when you might think we can take a break, we find something else to fix for you guys. We found some skin compatibility issues and went ahead and got a fix ready for a release. So if you are using any skins that are not MobyDock format (default skin format used) then this update is definitely for you.

RocketDock 1.3.4 Released

It's a funny thing being responsible for an application used by so many people. While we would love to get nice feature related releases out this fast we feel that fixing a bug that is causing users grief warrants a fast turn around. RocketDock 1.3.4 fixes a bug that has appeared on Windows Vista when an antivirus utility is installed causing a runtime error when right clicking on the dock or opening a settings window. So again we urge those using RocketDock to update their installs.
