Get to High Ground! It's a Blue Tsunami!

If you read our last blog post, you'll know we've spent nearly the past two years focusing on activism and mutual aid in San Diego, working with some of the most incredible and caring people we've ever met. Yeah, our little software company has been neglected, and we're sorry about that, but some things are just too important to ignore. What's been happening in the United States is so unconscionable that we simply couldn't sit by and do nothing. We couldn't quietly watch as our friends and neighbors were abducted, abused, and killed by ICE or CBP.

This year has been particularly rough on many of us in the movement, protesting day in and day out, running on fumes. But last night the American people stood up and spoke out against this administration with a resounding "FUCK YOU". They voted for a brighter future, and they did so in record breaking numbers. Even Texas went blue!

Maybe I was overly pessimistic, it's hard not to be, but I didn't believe it would actually happen. Spending the days relentlessly trying to appeal to people's better nature, and being met with their worst can turn you cynical. We've been physically assaulted so many times I've lost count. I've lived here my whole life and never realized just how many neo-nazis there actually are, complete with swastika tattoos and everything. I'll be hearing the cold indifference of their cultishly monotone "TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP!" and "I LOVE ICE!" until the day I die. Gross.

So What's Next?

It will surely take a generation to undo the damage caused by this clown show, and we can't even start that work until January. It's up to each and every one of us to hold our representatives accountable, to contact them and keep them honest, to fight for better candidates in primary elections. This applies to any functioning democracy, don't take your rights for granted or tomorrow you may not have them.

We The People are clearly sick and tired of this Republican administration's cruelty, of their bigotry and criminality, of their misogyny and abject stupidity. Yesterday we stood up against their lawlessness, against their hatred and narrow-mindedness, because America is better than this. 📢
